Electronic child lock malfunction after rear door replacement

Post by kiribati »

Hello everyone in the Volvo community!

I am posting this in this forum with the hope that someone will notice as well.

So I had my rear door changed, and now the child lock doesn't work properly.
When I press the usual button on the main console, it locks the left door and opens the right, and when i press again it opens the left, and locks the right. Also I can't open anymore the door from outside, unless i use the remote key and unlock all doors. Unfortunately the garage did a sloppy job and i live 2hrs away and can't go back anytime soon and wanted to find a solution - before having to bring it to another garage nearby and spend another ton of money.

There is an error message saying: Child Lock Malfunction (something like that, mine is not in English)

I researched a bit and found this youtube video of someone who had the exact same problem.

My thinking is, being a total ignorant in this, that the guy doing the door replacement mixed up a wire, is that possible?

If not, any idea? Is there something I can check with the wires by opening the door panel?
