Fix for EVAP Codes P2401 and P2419 - 2.5T

Post by Krons »

Finally resolved EVAP issue on new to me 05 XC90 2.5T. Symptom was check engine light with P2401 and P2419 codes. In certain if fuel economy was impacted as I did not have a baseline.

I came across this YouTube video and had same issue. This XC90 had sunroof drain issues hich I've now fixed and the connection on driver floor was corroded and one wire (ground I think) was broken behind the connector. I spliced the broken wire around the connector. For rest I thoroughly cleaned with rubbing alcohol on a Qtip then a healthy dose of dielectric grease. So far appears this has resolved the check engine light with P2401 and P2419 EVAP codes. Unfortunately didn't get a picture of the connector but it is shown in the video.

2010 Volvo xc90 3.2 fwd:

Thanks for sharing this- I am chasing these EVAP codes as well, have changed the evap pump behind the spare tire, no change. Also noticed passenger a-pillar was showing dampness after a rain. drain holes on both sides badly clogged, cleared them out. Drivers foot well was soaked in water upon pulling the carpet and foam which is now currently drying in the sun... I’ve cleaned up the connections which are hanging by a thread but already appears to have resolved the CEL.

Thanks for sharing this, also thanked the YouTuber :)

Another item to check is the EVAP hoses on the driver’s side under the intake. My kids XC90 EVAP codes persisted and so when I had access to it today I found one of the hoses split, got fuel line at local farm supply store and fitted all new.
