Sometimes you just don't have a choice. Used car prices were (and still are) extreme and I have a lot of driving to do every day. Every time I had the opportunity to buy another rig, the seller would flake out. It is what it is.But why would you keep driving it if you knew it was exhibiting symptoms of severe engine problems?
I did my due diligence to try and find the root issue. I even had the oil tested and the lab said all wear metals were normal or below average. It never lost oil pressure. I poked around with a stethoscope and couldn't find any bad noises. Other than some brass flakes, there was no bad behavior keeping me from driving it. And like I said, I couldn't find a replacement daily and I had to drive.
