CV axles does XC70 and XC90 swap?

GKN/Loebro is OE, but you may get a remanufactured part, which proved to suck often. Us, lucky XC70 guys with AW55, can install XC90 axles, which have no tripod joints and virtually run forever. Manual axles, as far as I know, also have no tripod, so they could be serviced like every 10 years and run forever, too.

It appears he's saying the XC90 part is an exact fit but has different, sturdier construction. Anyone (including vtl!) have experience with this and can clarify some details, specifically

1. which model(s) XC90? Presumably P2 XC90 with 2.5T and AW55, not T6 or V8? Need it be 2.5T with AWD or are axles. from FWD the same (seems unlikely but ...)?
2. Would you buy a new XC90 axle or consider junkyard. ones since they "run forever?"

I unfortunately busted $1k+ on brand new axles a few years ago They are still in an excellent shape and does not produce any vibration. Once they gone, I'm switching to XC90 axles the next day.

Hi All,

I have a 2007 XC70 and am very interested in the XC90 axle swap. Does anyone know of a shop that has done this anywhere in the Northeast? I am unfortunately not handy enough to do this on my own. I am Boston and have a great shop; the guys tried to do this by pulling all of the XC90 axles they could from their parts supplier, but none seemed to be compatible (perhaps they never got the parts corresponding to the 03-05 XC90s that everyone recommends). I would be grateful for any leads! Thank you!
