Camshaft Position Sensor P0347

Post by Dharp »

I just finished a PCV service and rear cam seal replacement. Originally I was also going to replace the front cam seals as well, but I didn't see any real sign of oil leaks below the front and had so much going wrong with the project, I was afraid of the horror stories I was seeing with the cheapo Amazon camshaft locking tool./ I had put it on with the short bolt, but when i was tightening the bolt on the tool, the cam moved. I had moved it back to the position it looked like it had started from and rotated the engine 2 full rotations, confirmed timing marks all still lined up, and it looked like the cam slots were lined up perfectly for the tool. I stopped there decided to return the amazon locking tool, because the bolts look cheap and didn't want to snap them off on the final torque of the CVVT hub, and will order one from FCP Euro if needed. Buttoned everything back up and it started and ran fine Wednesday night while I did a coolant flush and ran fine to and from work yesterday. This morning, I went to leave for work and a check engine light was on. Checked the code and it is P0347. The car seems to be running fine still, no rough idle or anything, so I wouldn't think the camshaft is out of time. I have a VIDA program, but no DICE tool to connect for scanning the actual Volvo codes. With this code, will I have to go through the whole timing process with the better cam locking tool from FCP Euro?
