Swapping head from 2.5L engine to 2.4L

Post by TisMe »

Howdy folks,

looks like my dearest Helga has gained access to a donor head sooner than I could configure the space & muster the courage to attempt my first valve job.

Anyway, my Google-fu is failing me today so I figured I'd cut to the chase here. My wagon is an '01 2.4L, whereas the donor wagon is an '04 2.5L.

Would this be a straight swap, or are there variables I should be aware of?

As always, thanks for your time!

It's possible that the one of the two vvt solenoids holes in between the timing belt and 1st cylinder could be uncut. Because I know some engines can only have the exhaust holes cut to be used for the solenoid and has the intake uncut. I'm not sure if it's due to the year or engine model, but that's a possibility.

Just unscrew the two T30 bolts next to the timing belt, see how many you got and compare with pics from the donor.
