2001 xc-70 2.4T Piston compatibility with other years.

Post by lawrencium265 »

My #2 piston melted the other day. I pulled the head and the Cylinder wall has melted aluminum on it, but I believe I can clean it off.

I'm Looking at used pistons, but I don't see any for a 2001. I see some for 02'+, 98',99',00' and of course N/A which will not work at all.

Does anybody know if one from a later or earlier year will work? Mine is Marked "D"

Thank you, Mine is 82.4mm Diameter, 50.5mm height between the top edge and the very bottom of the skirt.

Also, both of my skirts are the same. I've seen a different type that has two notches cut out of one skirt.

82.4x50.5 on my 2005 B5254T2 D-letter piston as well. B5254T2 is plentiful.
