2011 xc70 expansion valve removal.

Post by jeffcmb »

Once again what seems like a simple job has hit a snag. I am replacing the AC expansion valve on my 2011 XC70 and can't get the lines off the old one. I have removed the nut and pulled the plate back but it seem there is not enough room between the valve and the fire wall to pull them out. Anyone have any suggestions?

I managed to get them off with good old brute force and ignorance. Now the bolts that hold it to the condenser assembly are stripped. I should be able to cut through the valve with a Dremel to get them out but the new one did not come with bolts. Anyone know what size they are?

Have a look at the parts breakdown on the Volvo online web store. Put your vin in to get the right diagram

Almost certainly standard m6 or m8 bolts but correct length will be critical
