Adding tailgate lock pin to a V70 without

My 1998 V70 T5M doesn't have a tailgate lock pin. Has anyone here added a locking pin to a V70 without one? Roughly what was needed?

I've seen 1998 V70s in junkyard pictures with the tailgate lock pin so I assume it's possible. Do lock mechanisms without the pin have the ability to add the pin (ie: they have an unused arm for the pin)? Does this require a larger change to single stage vs. two stage locking?

I've always had the pin on my 2000 V70s and am entirely habituated to pressing it down when finished in the trunk. Not having it in the 1998 is quite annoying since I don't use keyless entry, requiring me to return to the front door to lock it. Thanks.

It’s easily added to the lock, and I have a few spares in cache, see pictures here

Thanks. I'll dive deeper into that thread you linked. I'll evaluate adding a hole for the pin in the trim plastic.
