1998 V70 FWD base model - Mileage fault

There is a 98 V70 base model at one of the local auctions just now. Few probably know better than me that there is no such thing as a cheap Volvo. That being said, the biggest issue (other than bad paint but no significant rust other than paint chips on the hood) is that the mileage is not showing in the dashboard. It is only showing 3 digits and no trip info at all. Does not seem to have the computer option, but it almost looks like the trip info is showing in the wrong place?

In the listing about the 8th picture in shows the dash picture. Figure is where the mileage should be and looks like 13.8? That almost looks like a trip mileage in the wrong place?? A 98 speedo unit is easy to swap if you can find one, but any thoughts as to what is going on? I have never seen or read anything like this.

The trip mileage is in the correct place, the actual odometer mileage is missing. I think if you touch the trip button with ignition off the trip only shows? If odometer doesn’t show with ignition on, the DiM or CDM is faulty. I’ve got a spare 1998 somewhere in US colours , though
