Critical replacement parts 2004 XC70

Post by Griff »

Hello! I was just reading about the PCV banjo bolt failure last night where the check ball can enter the engine.

I was wondering if there are any other parts that need to be replaced due to a design flaw on P2s?

The PCV system as a whole gets clogged sometimes and has to be replaced otherwise you may lose all your oil due to pressure blowing out seals.

PCV as mentioned, clean throttle body while there. Keep up with timing belt replacement (every 100k miles/10 yrs) and while there do the water pump and cam seals.

If over 100k miles do the fuel filter, flush power steering fluid, and coolant. Coolant hoses are good preventative maintenance too. Suspension is more of preference, many see improvement after replacing subframe bushings too.

I would be careful about the throttle body. I just cleaned my throttle body on my mom's Chevy, and it now idles at 3k rpm, and won't go into drive. Now I have to order a special scan tool to reset it. I have no idea if this will happen to Volvo's but since they both have electronic throttle bodies, it's probably possible.

You don’t want the cleaner to get into the electronics. You are just getting the oil out of the metal part
