Fix for broken clip holders on dash switches?

Post by Grantkat »

1999 S70 - does anyone have a fix or alternate way of securing dash switches (such as dimmer) when the plastic slides are broken and wont hold a clip?

Perfect junkyard item as the MTBF on switches can be shown to be e^pi + pi^ e or approximately 56 years.

The proof if left as an exercise for the student

Post up which switches you need, I’m unloading stash of unused stuff

I have repaired them with JB Weld Plastic bond and they are stronger than original. The part runs hot and you are 99% likely to break at least one of the metal tabs off removing one. Really stupid poor design!

Like I said they are stronger than original but still flexible enough to fit. I even 'repaired' any clips that still looked good to prevent them breaking again. Maybe not pretty, but then you are not looking at the repair!

Hope this is of help.
