Reoccuring anti-theft message
Almost every time I go to unlock the door with either the remote button or the key cylinder at the door, the red light on the top dash blinks rapidly without any sound. Then when I turn on the car I simply get the anti- theft "check the car" message, but the car is fine and I just go about my day. Any idea why this is now happening?

the circuit board on the fender mounted alarm module is toast, nicad battery leaked acid and burned the copper traces.
the fast red flashing is the alarm activating but it can't sound due to the burned up board.
I unplugged mine years ago, no siren but I don't even lock my car doors here in maine, moose don't steal volvo's.

A flaky switch in one of the door lock assemblies can cause this problem. Do you have any problems when locking the doors, one door doesn't lock or locks and unlocks when locking the doors? Do you ever get a warning message that a door (or tailgate) is open when driving, which is also an indication of a flaky switch? Wiring to these switches can also cause the problem, especially in the tailgate left hinge area.chris11211 wrote: ↑15 Sep 2023, 19:36 Almost every time I go to unlock the door with either the remote button or the key cylinder at the door, the red light on the top dash blinks rapidly without any sound.
