P80 P2 battery size H6 H7 Group 48 49 info ( will H7 fit in p80j

Post by abscate »

Going to not tempt fate and replace the P2 battery , since it from 2013

:D

Can I use either an H6 or H7 in the standard P80 battery tray? Specs show same height and width, with the H7 being 1.25 inches longer.

I want to use the H7 in Elizabeth , then swap in the bigger battery into the P2 later

I just bought a new H6 battery from oreillys for the xc90. It's significantly longer than a typical p80 battery. I will measure it later and report back.

My H6 battery measures 13.75 inches in length. I compared to my 850 battery location. The only way I can see it would fit is by removing the fresh air snorkel.

This is an 096 battery in my 850 which I believe is the same dimensions as the H6
Measures length 278mm x width 175mm x height 190mm (L 10.95" x W 6.89" x 7.48")

Battery clamp is at the last space so H6 is as big as the P80 tray will take and H7 will be too long to fit

I could easily fab a battery hold down for the P80 but the P2 bracket is much harder.

The P2 will easily accommodate a much larger battery. 019 (which I believe is Group 49, H8) fits in at 353mm X 175mm X 190mm, just move the clamp along to the appropriate bolt hole

P80GLT... got to say that I admire your battery clip retainer cord. I'm going to do that on mine too!

jreed: Seen too many fall off and are lost forever, easier to attach a cord and it will never be lost. I also have a cord onto each of my bonnet catches and ever the cable breaks I won't have a problem accessing the engine bay

Went with the H6 so it fits any of the 4 P80 and P2 in the fleet.

NAPA has a 20% off through September with 2 year warranty in full. Came in under $140 with tax
