Hi all
I ' d like to buy a XC 90. But as i live in the belgian ardennes, i would like to know if the aldex all wheel drive is efficient or no. We sometimes have snow but also rain ( much), ice etc etc.
I know real all roader like Landies are efficient , quattro from audi and x drive from bmw also. But if i drive a Xc 90 on snow ( about 20 cm max) and arrive in front of a hill... will i reach the summit ?
thx
XC 90 abilities !

not aldex, but Haldex....yes, it is very popular here in the States. Production, of the XC90 here in the states was from model year '03 (not sure about Europe) and from the very beginning, they had the Haldex system. See here for a review of that first year's vehicle: http://www.caranddriver.com/previews/24 ... -xc90.html
I know that owners say that they have plenty of power and safety features and almost all I've talked to really love their XC.
The Haldex system is much beefier than its predecessor in the earlier XC70's and other AWD vehicles...also with the Haldex, more power can be shifted to either the front or rear axles, so I would say you will have no trouble in the rain, snow, or generally to reach "the summit."
There are several versions with different, more powerful engines (such as a newer V8 ) and turbo's. Maybe JRL who is more familiar and knows the different trim levels of the XC90 can post and share his knowledge. I would say he can give you pointers on which is going to help you get to the summit quicker and with more style.
