850 Switch the 1995 cluster into 1996 for OBD II mileage read

Hello,

My OBD do not work for a mileage check method on my 1995 850. Could be a solution to just switch the cluster into my newer 1996 850 model equiped with OBD II and read mileage from it with ELM327 reader?

Thank you for any ideas and knowlage

No.
'95 and earlier will not work in '96 & '97 and vice versa.
'97 850 2.5 20v / fully equipped / Motronic 4.4 from the factory / upgraded with S,V,C,XC70 instrument cluster / polar white wagon
