Project 2009 S60 2.5T AWD

Post by MoVolvos »

.
Just acquired a 2009 S60 2.5T AWD with 115K for my Son to replace the 05 GS430. The Lexus is still fine but the starter is under the intake manifold so is really a time consuming job and needs to be done outdoors. Wife was thinking of a newer car for him so I picked it up. Will likely sell the GS430 once I get that done.

Had to borrow a friend's truck while working on the C30 suspension and still can't use it as the rear spacers are stuck like glue. Don't want to damage the new wider tires as the stock size would rub when going over large dips in the road. No place to work on it at this time. Hope to get the 09 S60 registered today so we get a breather with a second car.

What major things to check and do and how to approach a AWD system as I have absolutely no exposure to them?

The BAD:

1) Low PWST fluid but engine compartment is fairly clean.
2) Driver's floor board is wet. No water stains on either pillar cover.
3) TPMS ON and one tire is low.
4) Idle seems low but does start high and go down as normal.
5) Slight exhaust noise at start up but gone right away.

The GOOD:

Timing belt in 07/19, 107K miles. Currently 115K miles.
PCV is fine
Fresh oil change
Strut mount is solid
Struts looks newer
Front brakes looks new
.
Looks like this 09 S60 2.5T AWD from FB. Same wheels but Titanium and black leather.

1 probably leaking at the rack like mine.
2 pour water on the sunroof , it should drain near the A pillar, compressed air will clear it.
3 pump it up
4 pwst pump might be dragging the idle dow.
5 i duct taped the exh and inserted my air gun, find leaks with soapy water , check manifold nuts and aft cat joint.

my awd haldex doesn't seem to work so i yanked the fuse, end of problem.

Good stuff, simple test and fix but did you have to replace the rack? How does one know if the AWD Haldex is working? What does fuse removal do? Is there a short course here on MVS on how the AWD system work?
