axle stuck in axle 1996 850R estate
the left front axle is absolutely stuck in the transmission. we're afraid of ruining the trans if we attempt to force it too much. i cannot find any zip boots and have heard of a tool that exists that can stretch the boot over the joint, but cannot find that either. any help and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, that DS c-clip can be a pain. I fought the last one I messed with.
I got lucky with a large flat screwdriver as a prying tool and got it to pop free. (my normal pickle-fork didn't work)
I've seen these axle popper forks and have thought about picking up a set. (CTA 4017 or equivalent) LINK

I have used a cold chisel to pop them loose. Main thing to watch is flattening the flange around the seal. Normally a couple of sharp taps with a hammer and the chisel pops it loose. Try rotation the axle as you do this as it can move the position of the clip that holds it in place.
