2000 S70 A/C controls not coming on in colder weather, shuts off randomly in hotter weather

Where would anyone recommend starting for this issue? My A/C and controls do not kick on in the morning if it’s cold outside. (No lights on, nothing) After 20-30 minutes driving to work, the system kicks on and my recirc., plus “off” light flash about 15 or so times. It also tends to shut off randomly, then back on after a few minutes when it’s warmer outside. I know this means there’s a stored code only Volvo can probably read me, but figured I’d ask here for any similar problems or recommendations before dishing out money there.

Could be the clutch gap issue common with Volvo.
