87 740T fuel system modifications

Post by shegarty »

Hi all - I'm looking for ideas on modifying the fuel system for my 87 740T. It's not for performance but strictly for driveability and reliability. The in-tank pump was non functional when the car was parked over a decade ago and I am sure that when I dig into the sending unit and pull it from the tank it is going to be a mess (hard lines for fuel outlet and return were previously resoldered to fix a leak) and I can't seem to find a good replacement here in Canada that doesn't cost a fortune. Does anyone have any ideas on a simple(ish) replacement system? The main fuel pump is working (and I have a good spare) so I only need a low pressure lift to get it out of the tank - also, I don't really care about a working fuel gauge at this point.
