My rear brakes will not release from the caliper after braking. Sometimes they just stick for a second then release and sometimes they don't release at all. Sometimes if you go back after an hour they release.
I bled all the brake lines until I got clear fluid with one exception, the drivers side front line. I thought maybe the hose was bad because I wasn't getting any fluid out at all. I removed the hose, even to the solid brake line, no fluid coming out, I stuck a pin in and there does seem to be a little fluid in it.
I was using a power bleeder and it wasn't pushing anything out so while the pressure bleeder was on I put the mighty vac on and vacuumed from the caliper while the power bleeder was still attached with a new brake hose installed, initially one I started pumping there was a small amount of way dirty fluid that spat out but not much at all.
While googling I was reading about some people having issues bleeding and there being gunk settled into the abs module. I don't have vida / side so I couldn't manually trigger the abs module. I disconnected the battery wondering if maybe if the abs module goes through some kinda calibration when power is reconnected it may help, oddly enough when I reconnected the battery after awhile the brakes had released and I could move it without issue, but if I push the brakes they don't retract out. Attempted to bleed the drivers side again and nothing.
Since covid started I barely drive and driving doesn't involve abs, it would not surprise me if the abs has not been activated for the last 3 years.
Am I going in the correct direction with this? or am I overlooking something? Any other ideas?
