Girlfriend just brought her in XC40 for service at 40k. Brake pads are at 3 front 4 rear. We knew this from inspection so i said if they agree, replace the pads.
She calls me the service advisor says she needs to replace rotors, because A. they never resurface them. B. When you replace the pads sometimes you get brake vibration.
$1000 for the front and $900 for the back, WTF. I changed my Honda rotors @ 90k.
Also, they said some coffee had spilled down the shifter and they need to replace (I guess) part of the gear box. They say its a common problem, WTF. She's never had an issue with the transmission system.
This just smells of service "padding" I've owned an V70 wagon, S60 and S80 and even though these had way more maintenance than my Honda, I've never seen something as fishy as that.
Please advise. Thanks!

Unfortunately sounds typical for a Volvo dealer. Fleecing indeed.
Me personally I’d run it til the brakes squeal but that might not be wise.
