Hello guys,

I need a few information on the timing belt installation on the above mentioned engine with EXHAUST VVT only.

There seems to be a multitude of information concerning the timing belt replacement on said engine. I'm sure that the topic was mentioned many times here but I can not find the correct info. So please bear with me :)

I have rebuild the whole engine, now i need to install the timing belt, I have the locking tools but the thing that isn't clear to me is the position of the exhaust VVT. My version is spring loaded and is coming back to the counterclockwise limit. On other non Volvo engines that I did the VVT mechanism spring was so tough that it wasn't even possible to move so there was no question about the whole VVT position but here its really easy to rotate.

My understanding is that with the locking tools installed on the crank and both cams, I will leave the VVT in its natural position (most counterclockwise) and than tighten everything.

Is this correct procedure?
