If you mean that it only gives a puff of smoke on the first hard acceleration, and after that is ok and no smoke, then it is not necessarily the turbo, especially if it is not smoking after that first time.
It is more likely the valve stem seals may be leaking, but as the guys have mentioned, we need more information on age of car, mileage and servicing it has had.
