Friend told me I'm a bull in a china shop when it comes to any type of repairs as I tend to break things. Wanted to see if I could remove the DIM without breaking any tabs or other plastics so took a little more time. Instead of paying the $150 to send it out he will be doing the soldering per last video at the bottom.
He's into electronics, computers and is also an electrician. Said shouldn't be too difficult but we are going to remove the 03 S80 T6 DIM as it just went out recently although the car has sat for over 2 years with a bad transmission.
.
Put pressure on the side and push up rather than using a bone tool. Worked well for both sides. It wasn't as easy as the video below as it looks like no one has ever removed these pieces before.
.
.
There are 5 clips on the cover. First pry bottom out slightly as the dash cover pulls straight out. Someone in a video showed he broke the Odometer Reset due to pulling the top out first and angling / pull up the bottom section out.
.
.
I tried pulling the inner upper and edge with my hands, gloves provided some grip, rather then denting the dash with a bone tool.
.
.
The 5 tabs and top of the steering cover are one piece. Didn't look carefully if they can be separated.
.
.
There are 4 screws holding the DIM in the dash. They are set in so get a magnet of some kind. None of my tools are magnetized so...
.
.
The video below shows the DIM being taken apart so I didn't take photos but I did put it back to try it out. When I removed it only the Check Engine light would come on for a second and everything else was dark. With no pressure or stress from the enclosure everything lit up except the Message Center going in and out. With light pressure on that IC Chip it stabilized.

.
OH! Also removed the Driver's Switch but will do another post.

My DIM needs to be repaired. Same erratic behavior as other people have experienced. I wish I saw this post before I pried the top first, and subsequently broke off the two lower tabs. LOL
