This car was not a daily driver. It had a slow oil leak that I addressed by just adding a quart ever now then. Not the best protocol but I did it for a year or so. While the car was being loaned out to a teenager it “lost power and wouldn’t start again”. I tow it home. Turn the key. Click but no crank. Knowing battery was old I get a new one. Same symptoms. I
Replace the starter. Same symptoms. When key is turned the flywheel on front of engine rotates just barely. All pulleys on the serpentine belt turn slightly also. I put a 20” breaker bar on the nut on fly wheel and can’t get it to turn either direction. I’m assuming this thing is toast. Anything else I can do to figure this out?

Yeah, I would say it is toast. If you want to find the failure points of a car, let a teenager drive it! LOL Sorry

Although that is a true statement I only have myself to blame.

Any hope in pulling the spark plugs and sending some Kroil or marvel mystery oil down the cylinders?

I know the dealer preemptively replaced it maybe 20,000 miles ago as part of a 100,000 mile maintenance program. But I’ll look into checking it if it seems like a possibility of what’s wrong.

Did it have any oil in it when you got it back? I was assuming it didn't and rod bearings seized or something like that...maybe I'm wrong.

It was low but it’s unclear how much was added. The driver that was in it while it died added some. Her boyfriend added some. Between the two of them I didn’t get a clear answer. I drained the oil. It looks fairly fresh. I can assume that two quarts were added. I ran a rare earth magnet through the oil and then strained it looking for metal. It seemed fine. Maybe a few super small flakes. But so small of an amount maybe not.

It's possible the timing belt broke and jammed valves against pistons, but easy enough to check. Take the top of the cover off so you can see the cam pulleys. Also, maybe take out the spark plugs and see if it will rotate?

Its happened to me. I spent weeks trying to diagnose why my xc90 died idling in traffic but wouldn't start. I went as far as to change the fuel pump. I about lost my mind when I opened the timing cover. So don't be like me. Check the belt before going any further.
