2002 V70 Base Catalytic Converter 8603068

Post by krenekj »

2002 V70
Base, non-turbo
215k miles

I'm looking to replace the catalytic converter. The part number is 8603068. The cat and exhaust manifold are one unit.

The dealer and other suppliers tell me the part is no longer available and none are in stock - anywhere. FCP says they have it, and I'm waiting for confirmation. But it's $1600.

What non-OEM solutions have people used to replace this catalytic converter?

Magnaflow and others sell 'cut and weld-in' cats, but I'm hoping to find something that's a direct replacement.

Thanks!

What is or are the reason(s) for needing to replace it?

I welded mine but this was my second option if the repair went bad, it went good so I didn't need it.

I may start another thread on this later - a persistent P0420.

Right now I'm scoping the catalytic converter options as it appears this is not straight forward for these vehicles and there is not much information out there.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure both oxygen sensors had to be replaced twice at this mileage. Did you do that?

A couple of people here have tried this and it has worked. Unless the CAT has broken up and gone into the muffler like my 88 Camry Wagon years ago this could remedy the P0420.
