transmission adaptation after solenoid replacement without VIDA

Post by jwetering »

Hey guys - my daughters 2005 2.4i v50 has done 256k km and its has hard downshift and flaring shifts when it get hot.

I've ordered the 3 Rostra linear solenoids and I will install them this week. That's the easy part.

The question is how, or if, I can adapt the transmission without VIDA. More specifically....can I just drive it for 50 km or so - first stop and go, then on the freeway ?

Am I over thinking, or underthinking it ?

Thanks

I believe so. Vida reset would be most ideal. Over time it will / should average out.
I’m over due for a valve body swap myself. ‘02 p2 but same tranny and same issues.
I went this route..

Scored a new/unboxed vb on Amazon for like $200 and the solenoid was like $125 I think. Please follow up on your success. FCP for the trans oil, of course, lifetime free replacement!
