Hey all,
I've read up on many of the rear view mirror replacement posts and am looking for pragmatic opinions about omitting the humidity sensor and living with OEM part.

Recently noticed a slight water drip stain on the interior of the windshield, practically down the center. After about a month I decided to have the windshield reseated, which essentially means replaced as they crack upon remove often. I asked the installer if he'd have to recalibrate any sensors in the mirror, as I thought there was one up in the housing. He said no, I was skeptical, but I bought an OEM mirror that did not have auto dim, compass, or any electronics for that matter. He installed for free.
Today I was hunting down an CE light that had just illuminated. I noticed that CCM B1A6987 - Humidity Sensor. Bus Signal/Message Failures. Missing message in the fault trace. I don't believe this is what triggered the check engine light (erased all, the fault is in red, but the CE light has stayed off), as I had an ECM-P017100 System Too Lean (Bank 1) (Different, recent post).
IF this CCM-B1A6987 does not trigger the check engine light, I'm considering living with it however I'm not sure of the impacts.
I live in a year round mild, low rain climate. I do still have the old mirror. The reflective mirror coating has deteriorated on this original part quite a bit making it unsafe. I've seen surgical-like procedures to open it up and replace the glass. I realize a new install from the dealer will be upwards of $500, probably more.
So, is it that big of a deal?
Thanks
