2015 XC60 T5 ECM Issue

Post by shxc602015 »

Hi,
The mechanic has diagnosed that PIN #52 of the ECM does not send a signal to the ignition coil for cylinder 4. The car is running on 3 cylinders. They say that the ECM must be either reprogrammed or, worse case, replaced. They say it can be done by Volvo dealerships only. Is there any alternative? I assume that the Volvo dealership will charge lots of money for repair.
Thanks for your replies.

You are between a brick and a hard place unfortunately. Your mechanics are limited by what they have to offer, and that is not precise enough to resolve. Unless there is a local Volvo specialist then the dealer is the only option. Currently the car is a paperweight. Call a dealer and explain to the service people what the issue is. Ideally ask to speak to the service manager or the shop foreman to see what the options are.

A used ECU and a re-flash may be an option, but that is beyond my area of knowledge on these newer cars. Chances are an hour of labour at the dealer may at least give you a way forward at least and the options and costs.
