Hi everyone, I have the same problem as this topic here: viewtopic.php?p=640957&hilit=Steering+line#p640957
It's leaking from where the lines plug into the rack, just below the steering shaft. I know there are O rings on the ends of these lines, but my question is: are the ends flared? Will I need to do some flaring like with brake lines if I remove them? Or, can I simply remove the retaining plate, pull the lines out, replace the rings, then reinstall?
Just wondering if anybody's had success with just replacing the rings. I'd hate to do it and make the problem worse...
Thanks for any wisdom you might be able to share

O-rings, no flare. In the rust states those steel lines can bond to the alloy rack and that is real trouble.
Invest in a set of flare wrenches from Tekton or snap on at the slightest hint of wrench slippage.

Ok thanks! I'll make sure to use lots of penetrating oil before trying this. I've got flare wrenches, but my lines don't have the nuts on them. I'll go to the dealer soon and get the o rings, the screw, and hope for the best
