2013 XC60 LHF axle c-clip question Topic is solved

My friend dropped of the used Volvo OE axle for his car's transmission swap. I had a chance to look it over today.

Talking to a friend at the local dealer who is a master tech, he has had a similar problem where the LHF axle would not come out of the transmission as the C-clip would not release. In both cases the transmissions had to be replaced. The same this has happened to my friends car. It had a new trans axle seal fitted about 60,000miles ago so has been out before. This time it would not come out.

We are swapping the trans with a warranted used one, and are using the OE used axle which has an early date code of 2009.

I had a look at the c-clip and it looked like none I have seen before. I thought it was damaged but looking on a Volvo parts site they list 3 different clips but one looks like this:

Based on the shape, I can see why it would get stuck in. Has anyone else had an issue with this before?

With the excellent help of one of the local parts department at Volvo, we have finally tracked down that this is the wrong C-clip for the 2013 XC60 T6 AWD. The axle itself took a while to ID as the part number has changed 3 times and is no longer on the Volvo database. A call for help to Volvo technical identified it is the correct axle but wrong clip. Correct clip is # 31256325.
