So here are my questions:
1) Can you swap an ETM from an 01-02 (maybe 03) from the same engine type as in the P80's without further programming?
2) The car runs rough when cold. This could be many issues and the car has a bunch of faults but who knows, maybe a ECT issue as well?
What I did notice though was strange. The pipe from the intercooler to the ETM has a curved section pointing to the ground under the
ETM. It is caked in engine oil. Where would the oil be coming from? Could it maybe be the PCV catch tank? I don't see or feel any oil
leaking down the pipe from the cylinder head to the catch tank. I am used to seeing oil weeping from the plastic hose over the turbo
engines that connects to the intake hose to the intercooler, and this one is no different. Does this mostly come from a worn turbo?
I need to list out the other engine faults. There is a cam fault (recent timing belt?), O2 sensor signal issues, Minor emissions leak and possibly a crank sensor issue to add. It is possible some or all could be connected. I'll have to figure out where to start on this. Interestingly, this engine does not have an inlet CVVT solenoid, only an exhaust one. I need to check as I may have a good used one and gasket.
I'm thinking this may take a lot of time and diagnosing to see where the issues are. I'll need to find resistance values for the CVVT again and check it and clean as necessary, as well as for the ECT if I can access a connector and find the resistances for that too.
Probably will have to pull the ETM as well and give that a good clean and hope it is not too late or making it worse by cleaning!
So much work. But it is possible that the parts just need cleaned (yeh, right!
Strangely the PCV glove test showed no inflation and with higher revs suction. I wonder if this has been cleaned when a cam seal was replaced??
Neil.
