High Engine Temp!
High Engine Temp!
Wife had me meet her on her ride because there was a dash message "High Engine Temp". After 15 mins of engine off, no message. Antifreeze tank was full...no leaks noticed. Quick Google said "Replace thermostat and/ or sensor". Am I on the right track with those? How do you know if the water pump is operating? Any other ideas?

Get a reliable high temperature thermometer to check top tank radiator and inlet/outlet of water pump as the engine warms. This will tell you if water pump is pumping and the thermostat is opening.
Confirm the water pump is actually turning.

Use a laser pointer digital non contact thermometer. These are now $30-40? Very handy.
