I'm about to replace the front main crank seal, oil pump gasket and O-ring, so I took the oil pump out and decided to check for sludge.
I opened it up and started to clean it with brakeclean, and BINGO,-a small part that looked like a rivet of sorts fell out.
Of course, I couldn't tell where the little bugger came from, so my only hope is that someone here has opened this kind of oil pump up and can tell me where this part belongs.
I do have a vage idea on where this little part may belong, but I'm not sure, so please check out the image below and tell me what you think:
