2007 XC70 Stuck in Winter Mode

Post by mtd240 »

Hi all! Was driving my daughter to gymnastics, when suddenly the car acted like it turned off (tach fell to 0). I rolled to a stoplight and turned the key and the car kicked right back on (almost like it was…still on).

After that, it feels like I’m stuck in 3rd gear. Have to rev up to >2k RPMs to get going, and there’s no creep from a stop.

The electrical issue is odd, but the transmission issue feels a lot like I’m stuck in Winter mode. I pressed the button a few times, and it doesn’t do anything.

Anywho, before I pull the trim off and take a look later tonight - any thoughts? No codes thrown.

did it go into limp mode ?
a bad or just a loose abs wheel sensor can actually do this.

I don’t think it went into limp mode - there weren’t any warning lights. Dash was normal.

I suspect an ABS light would pop up if one of the sensors was loose or busted?

depends how good your code reader is,
how does it react when started in neutral ?
did you look at the shift cable on the tranny, maybe it popped loose.
