ETS light and 9150 code.

Post by Oro »

Love some advice if anyone has seen this specific combination. I’ve read a lot of threads on the subject but not 100% clear on the typical etiology here and best action.

00 V70xc, 128k miles, very well maintained condition. ETS code appeared, only code I retrieved is 9150 (via iCarsoft device). Scenario:

Pretty hot day for here, low 90s. Drove the car 1/2 hour at high speed on hot pavement, parked briefly (engine heat-soaked, temp sensor read 118F when I restarted the car). Shortly afterwards, I was braking from 50 to a stop moderately. As the car neared the stop, it stumbled a little as it came to a stop, but idled fine and drove fine afterwards. Never encountered that before. Gas light was on, tank very low, could have been fuel as I had just come down a long relatively steep hill. Stopped for gas and ETS code set/light came on. Got home, read code, 9150. Cleared it, light gone, Re started car and drove a short distance and back, light or code did not reset.

Could it have just been the tank extremely empty and sucking a little air? I have seen a number of ETS light threads, but always seem to have much more going on than just a 9150 code, as well as heat/fuel one-time coincidence.

Thanks for any reasoned observations.
