Proper identification of Front RH Axle for XC70 2006

Post by brianmul »

Hello,

I have an XC70, 2006, 2.5t AWD. A vibration from the engine on acceleration was diagnosed as the the front RH side CV axle requiring replacement. I bought the following from Euro Driveline:
https://www.autodoc.es/eurodriveline/18737324

attached is a picture of what it looks like.

But my mechanic thinks it's not the right one (it is a slightly different shape then the original a GKN), images also attached.

Can anyone help to confirm if the one I have is the correct one, and if not is there a guaranteed OEM code I should look out for.

Thanks and regards,
Brian

Buy used axles from 2.5T XC90, they are real CV joints, not tripods like XC70 has, and basically last forever. Need spacers for ABS tone ring. https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/axle ... ap.648608/

It looks like the correct one to me. The aftermarket ones will often not have the same exterior shape casing as the GKN originals. Check length when you have your old one out.

Thanks Blacklab,
The thing was he wanted assurance before he takes out the old one. Maybe someone has a picture of one that's been taken out, or a technical drawing with the exact correct dimensions of each section of the driveshaft...

Best regards,
Brian

The RH axle passes through the Angle gear casing and all the way into the transmission on the other side. That is why the axle looks so long. The shaft has that extra collar as it is narrower in diameter in the shaft to the original.

There is a seal on the RH side of the angle gear and a seal where it goes into the transmission.
