Car goes into limp mode with ABS fuse #1 in. 2007 XC70

If I take fuse #1 out (fuse box in engine compartment) it runs normal but has an ABS fault.
Quickest or first step in troubleshooting?
Just a note to say I do have a Dice unit and VDASH but I'm still not sure of what I'm supposed to be seeing to pinpoint a cause, if that's possible...

it can be as simple as a loose abs sensor, did you read the codes.?

The codes in VDASH?
Does the car itself show codes on the display besides the visual warnings?

Yes, VIDA will show you codes that are far more detailed than any message on the dash. Reading the codes is the first step in troubleshooting.
