P0441 EVAP emission system incorrect purge flow

Post by shiloh51933 »

2008 Volvo xc90 v8, this vehicle initially had a p0445-which is a small leak in the system. I happened to have a brand new Volvo purge valve, so I figured I would install it while changing out the spark plugs. So the p0445 goes away and p0441 appears, this code indicates an incorrect purge flow. I re-checked my install and it looks good, so where should I look next? I do have a new Volvo fuel filler cap, it was replaced about a year ago.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is what comes up when searching the code in VIDA:

284: ECM-P044100 EVAP emission system, faulty purge flow. General fault information. Type of fault not specified., B8444S

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information ECM-P044100
Condition
The engine control module (ECM) detects a fault in the function of the EVAP valve by analyzing the signal from the pressure sensor in the induction pipe. The diagnostic trouble code is generated if the control module registers that the EVAP valve has seized.
The diagnostic trouble code can be diagnosed during EVAP control.

Substitute value
Nothing.

Possible source
The hose between the induction pipe and EVAP valve is broken, clogged or pinched.
The hose between the EVAP valve and canister is broken, clogged or pinched.
The EVAP valve is stuck in the open position.
The EVAP valve is stuck in the closed position.
Throttle is sticking or is blocked (e.g. oil film, dust, icing).

Fault symptoms
Warning lights and chimes/Malfunction Indicator Light ("Check engine" light) indication/no indication
Fuel system/Fuel odor

Troubleshooting ECM-P044100
Checking component and connections
By activating quick-test of EVAP-valve, the valve's status can be decided. The test is based on pressure pulses through the valve and, in this way, the valve's function can be checked.

If malfunction is detected on the EVAP-valve when performing the quick-test, this indicates that the malfunction is permanent.

Engine idling during the entire test.

Activate quick-test EVAP-valve. The test takes a few seconds.

If the result shows “Malfunction found”, function is poor. Check hose/hose connections between EVAP-valve and canister for damage, clogging or squeezing. The valve may need to be cleaned or replaced.

If the result shows “No malfunction found”, function is correct. Then check hose/hose connections between EVAP-valve and inlet pipe for damage, clogging or squeezing.

Maybe see if this helps at all.
