EVAP hose?

98 S70, has had a EVAP leak P0445 for about a year. Finally dropped the tank today and found an EVAP hose on top of the tank, cracked at one of the clamp locations. The hose is between 6 - 7" in length, one end appears to be close to 5/8" I.D. and the other is close 3/8" I.D. (Actual measurements might be closer to 18mm / 11mm)

I've read that this hose might be out of production now. As a last resort, I have a brass barbed adapter, 5/8 to 3/8, and can make up a hose to work, but would like to know what others have done.

Sorry, but no obvious suggestions as to how to fix this. There is a similar but much longer pipe on the P80 AWD cars on the top of the tank. I have read of that being repaired in a similar method to what you are suggesting. Hard part is the short length you have to work with.

I'm wondering if a silicon pipe suitable for fuel (do they exist) and buying it in the smaller pipe diameter and then heating the other end in boiling water first and seeing if it will expand enough to fit over the larger diameter?

I appreciate you talking about this as I have a feeling I have a friends P80 wagon that may have the same or similar issue as I can't find any leak anywhere else.

I've been on the phone and scouring the web to see if this hose is in stock somewhere, but no luck. I think it's Volvo Part #9463088, now discontinued. I'm not sure of the I.D. of this hose. The brass adapter I have (5/8" to 3/8") seems to loosely fit inside the old hose, so I suspect it's a metric size rather than imperial. Possibly at 15 - 9 mm instead. So, I think the only option will be to make something using an adapter.

I can probably tank drop Shagg and see if I have that hose in decent shape this weekend? I also have a couple dropped tanks upstate as well

I'm in the US. I called Pelican yesterday because I also saw the part on their website, they don't have it either. I see the part on many European sites, but rather than having something shipped across the pond, I'll just make a hose with an adapter and be done with it.

Thank you, I appreciate the offer, but please don't bother. I can build a hose with an adapter that will outlast the car and I'll have it back on the road soon.

Please post the solution once you figure it out. It will help others (possibly me as well) to find a way to fix this issue.
