Ok, the regulars know I am barely literate with wiring stuff. The newer cars with Canbus systems confuse me when trying to read them.
I want to be able to test the headlight wiper operation on the junkyard finds I have. I know many could not care less as yo have no need for these further south, but here on days like today we do use them due to constant muddy slush being thrown up onto the fronts of the cars. You can loose a large proportion of you headlight brightness in a very short timeline.
The price of these have become really stupid new, so rebuilding is the only practical option for us.
So the wiring clarity I need is as follows:
If I recall from the wiring diagram I have seen for either an 02 or 06 XC70, the wiring harness wire colors are not the same as the short harness from the plug to the motors. This short harness has Pins #1,2 and 3. #1 is Red, #2 is Yellow and #3 is Black.
I believe the Red and Yellow wires are power supply wires and black is the ground.
If I understand how this works, one wire is a constant live, the other is a signal (from the switch) and the 3rd black wire is a ground.
I want to be able to cycle the motors when testing so I need to know how to do this, so even if you think they are a waste of time, if you have wiring harness skills I'd appreciate your inputs on how to do this. I have a 12V test supply I will use for this testing.
Much appreciated.
Neil.

Needed to get on and clear the decks as the 02 XC70 is returning for work followed by the V50 for parking brake cable, rear brake rubbing check, and rear shocks.
Anyway, I don't have a sacrificial connector to use for now, so I connected the black to ground on my 12V supply, the red to constant 12V and the yellow I used as the signal by tapping it on the 12V constant for power. This seems to work ok. The one I rebuilt seems to work great as does the one BlackLab brought with the broken case. I'll transfer the internals to the dead unit I have to hopefully get a good one from 2.
Only issue is that so far, the 2 RH ones I've opened are not positioned internally the same. So I don't know what is the correct positioning for the parts. I've take pictures and made marks for baselines and going to work on the hope that like P80 units as long as you have the parts fitted on the correct positions for LH or RH, if the unit works it will park itself once energised.
Well that's the plan..........
Neil.
