Interior fan takes a while to work

Post by 5rivers »

Greetings!
It has been especially cold up here in the North Country this last week and am finding that the interior fan for heat takes a while to turn on even when the fan slide is up to the max. After the car idles for a good 10 minutes, the fan goes on and works as it should. Everything else seems to be working fine (interior lights, radio, dash lights, etc).
Am wondering if I should be looking for a newer fan.
Appreciate your replies!

Does the fan come on when set to defrost? Do you have ECC or MCC A/C unit?

The fan on my Toyota does the same unless set to defrost. I'm assuming it is so as not to take heat away from the engine to get it to heat up faster.

Make a note of when the fan does come on relative to the engine temp gauge.

Try it when the car is warm , Kally. If it comes to speed right away , it’s probably the ECC controlling it. I thought the manual slider overrode that on the 1998- modern ECC climate system.

Stay warm up there in North Country
