Hey hi i'm new here so sorry if any mistake slides in.
I bought a 2000 V70XC this summer and the car had a lot of issues i fixed. Now i'm meeting a problem with the gas tank, in the best possible choices i'd need to change it. But i cant find a v70xc fuel tank, so i was wondering ; is the fuel tank on a s70 or v70 models compatible with the v70xc model?
Is the gas tank on a v70xc the same as a v70 or s70 base model??

Welcome Jello!
It’s a completely different tank on AWD vehicles including R models , S70 AWD , and XC70
You rarely need a new tank on these cars, it’s the plumbing that needs renovation

As per Abscate. Welcome to MVS.
AWD cars have a 'saddle' tank which is designed to give a hump in the middle to allow the prop-shaft to pass through to the rear.
Rotted metal pipes and connections are usually the issues as well as failing pumps.
I don't think any FWD parts are interchangeable at the rear of the car mechanically.
Worst case, you can go the FWD route and fit a FWD rear suspension, fuel tank and all to your car eliminating the AWD set up.
Neil.

I'm with Dr. Abscate, this is more likely a plumbing issue, the fuel tanks are plastic and pretty tough to hurt.JelloBrick wrote: ↑01 Jan 2025, 12:46 Hey hi i'm new here so sorry if any mistake slides in.

If the issue could be detailed, as in fuel delivery, leak, not getting to the engine, &c. ?
And also welcome, pour la santé mentale.

Well you're sure they're all in plastic? I just ask before the previous owner's mechanic made a "repair" on it which consisted in applying fuel resisting epoxy because apparently it began to rust on the top. This is the reason why i wanted to change it. I must say that i'm pretty embarassed by all this situation because i really like this car.

The XC 1998-00 are definitely plastic. If you search for my “ Resuurection of Ekaterina” thread you will see pictures of all the stuff that rusts on top that needs epoxy, but it isn’t the tank material.
Lots of links to Neil’s resuurection thread of his AWD model tank, too, great pictures there
