1999 v70 T5 timing P0014 P0343

I’m setting up timing on Elizabeth after a cylinder head off valve seal job, I’m getting both codes for timing and bad cam sensor. Did a quick sensor swap with a UBG SENSOR, SAME CODE.

is this a spurious code from having timing off?

I just remembered the Legend cn90 had this when rodents chewed his grounds. I’ll ping him for guidance of where to check. This one has sat for a while

Robert just ran across an 850 that had wonky grounds at the cable breakout under the intake, and he suspected the transmission mating surface had the muck of ages, so he added a ground between the block and the transmission case. Your mileage may vary.

Inspecting under the intake in the t5 isn’t fun, but at least I’ve got good stainless on the fan housing for easy removal.

Plus I’m in the best weather for mechanic work outside , 35-40F ! ( That's for bdub)

Thank goodness for heated garages. It is around -20C with windchill this morning. Warming up to a tropical 0C pr above next week. Maybe time for a junkyard run.

That ground under the intake is a bear to get to on turbos. I've read about the engine to trans ground issue, but not heard of it on engines that had not been separated from the trans. Cleaning the 2 surfaces prior to reassembly is a good idea in that situation.

Checking the other grounds like the one on the RHS rear of the engine to the fender, the one at the rear of the engine on a 99- from the top torque mount mounting to the firewall and then the one from the battery. There is one more on the inner fender on the LHS that is hidden by the airbox.
