Exhaust valve question -'99 GLT

Post by Sveedy »

As I was removing the valves, I can't seem to get the bottom washers out over the valve guide on the exhaust side. Intake side was no issue, but the exhaust side seems to have external ridge on the guide that prevents that bottom washer from being lifted out. Weird thing is one of them did seem to somehow just fall out when I was flipping the head over. Magnetic wand was working great for all the rest that did come out.
I'm I missing something here ?

I took the collective silence as "yes" , I was missing something. So I kept spraying the washers with throttle body cleaner and shaking the head, and eventually they all fell out. It must have been a build up of carbon around them that was preventing them from passing by the exhaust valve guide.
