Just replaced my timing belt and water pump on my 1996 10v 850. Replaced idler, tensioner pulley and hydraulic tensioner. All genuine volvo parts used. Torqued everything to spec.
Started it up and the belt wanders back and forth close to the edge with a rubbing/ screeching sound.
Please advise how I can fix this.

We've had that issue here a while ago. I can't remember the solution, though.
Have you tried the search function?

My Gates belt wandered when I installed an Aisin kit on my 1996 20V, but not enough to squeal. I simply did nothing about it. I haven't even pulled the cover to check on it. It's had many miles put on it since installation. I can understand the sound being quite concerning.
