Right Engine mount / "pad" both bolts shorn off; replace bracket (part # 8683931)?

Post by tfo »

hi everyone! was replacing subframe-engine mounts (front, transmission, right) and found that the right-side engine mount already had a bolt snapped off, so even if i didn't shear off the second one myself by accident, i'd have to replace the bracket they screw into anyway. Thankfully, they don't go straight into the engine block (my assumption-- please correct if wrong), and there's another bracket to attach it to, which comes off with two nuts (12mm socket) and a bolt (10mm).

My problem is I need to get this part replaced ASAP, as I have to drive down to NYC this weekend. I still haven't gotten the 10mm bolt off, so I still don't have that bracket in my hand to reference, but VIDA says it's just the two bolts from the engine pad that screw in. Any tips on getting this 10mm bolt out without taking off the crank pulley?

found a replacement part at my local volvo garage and managed to get that third, smaller bolt off too. these two brackets are definitely different, but the two bolt holes that screw in from the subframe mount are spaced the same, so this will work as a replacement. both are OEM Volvo parts, but I can't seem to find

notably, there is a tab on one of them to align with the subframe mount, which is not a big deal. The third, smaller hole does not line up correctly due to the angle of the two bigger holes, as well as the hole being a little closer to the center holes than the other.

did some more VIDA digging, and there are designations that there are two different parts according to chassis number- my replacement seems to be from the "CH 0-122999" range; since my chassis # is 282859, mine must be from the "CH 123000-" revision.
to my dismay, both of these reference the same volvo part #8683931, so that isn't much help.
