Ok...
So I have to tow my car out of a medium pitch icy/snowy driveway. As per many things on my V50 my AWD is not working on it.
I put snow tires on and I cannot move the car a millimeter.
And like so many things that has made owning this car such a pleasure the front eye hook threads in the front frame hole are completely stripped out. I have no chance to tow it as Volvo intended (with tow eyebolt).
I also do not want to loop anything around the subframe as I don't trust 1 of the 4 subframe bolts.
I have chain and heavy duty nylon straps to tow the car out with. I just wanted to see if there's a good spot or two to attach a 1-2 straps.
(As a side note, we also have a XC70 with dead cylinder #3, and running on 4 cylinders easily towed out an extended row Econoline van loaded up with gear. It walked it right up the driveway with ease. I do have praise for Volvo / Haldex AWD when it works!)

BUMP.
The eyelet tow hook bot in spot is stripped out.
There must be some other spots to throw, say, two heavy duty straps around, in order to tow this vehicle out of the ice/snow of a steep driveway.
It's got to travel maybe 250 feet to get to the public roads.
Only other option would be to try to attach a line to the rear tow hook and try to spin the car around 180 degrees and tow it that way. But it's sunk in a bit an I'm sure I'd damage the rear suspension / unibody trying a stunt like that.
When my lower control arm E X P L O D E D on me and two company came to haul car away they could not use the eyelet either... so they put a few straps SOMEWHERE. I don't know where to get it out of intersection and onto flatbed truck.
Thoughts / ideas??

OR - why would my AWD not be working? Is there any quick / magic fix to get it running? If so I could drive it out.
The ABS codes state rear passenger error, but I've read that's a generic error code and doesn't indicate it's actually a fault on that wheel. The wiring to the ABS sensor looked fine on that wheel.
I am pretty sure in the two years I've had this car the AWD never worked.

Can you put a strap around the front leg of each lower control arm and just drag it?

Thanks for response.
Uh... I could try that if no other options. I don't trust the subframe as 1 of the 4 bolts attaching it was cross threaded. I had to get a tap specifically in that size and re-tap it. I have not torqued that single bolt all the way up to spec as I was sure it would simple hollow out the threads in the car frame.
