Hello Volvo owners and fans,

the right side of the AC temperature selector illumination on the driver side of my 2006 Volvo V70 is off (already was when I bought it, but I didn't regard it as a flaw as the AC is working fine. I've already found a wiring manual for the Volvo, which will hopefully give some insight to which fuse and wire is connected etc.

Another thing is the illumination of the safety lock button is off, too. So I really don't know if the button is a dummy nor if the safety is activated or not.

Now, before I get my crowbar to open the center console (just kidding ), does anybody of you has a tutorial and or information about how to open the CC respectively what could be the issue?

I don't know but if you go in there and start unplugging things be sure to unhook the neg battery terminal or risk getting an SRS fault code.
if it were mine...I wouldn't even bother.

Does your sunroof work? Could be the alarm siren is bad.

Not had one of those center panels apart (yet) for a P2 car to see if there are bulbs or soldered in LED's for lighting that may have burnt out. Most buttons have their lighting in built. If you depress the button, I'm assuming it doesn't light up?

Sunroof works like a charm. And I'm not sure if the model came with an alarm system... well, the owners manual of this model provides instructions on how to use / test this safety lock function, so I'll give it a try (second person required to lock the car from the outside while another stays inside... you know the drill).

I'd assume the same as you: LEDS to illuminate, but then I wonder why using 2, one for the left and on for the right side of the selector only?

The buttons, fan rheostat and alarm button are LED's soldered in. The backlighting of the Panel use T4.2 bulbs and are easily replaced. Look up a video for radio removal to get instructions on how to remove all those components for repair or inspection, it's pretty easy and you can have all that stuff out and on your bench in about 15 minutes.
